Asus?

What do you think of Asus laptops? I might be getting one. I just wanted to know the pros and cons. I heard they are stable computers with long lasting functionality.

Any opinions?

They have a 1 yr standard warranty. If you drop and break your laptop you can get a free replacement. If you have 1 dead pixel you can get a replacement.

They are good laptops in general. They are not customizable unlike Dell or HP. Therefore many of their laptops come with standard screens while a Dell laptop can be customized with HD screens.

I’ve never ventured into their full laptop line, but i do know that they make great netbooks. I’ve had 2 of their netbook models and they both were of excellent quality and the battery life was amazing (9+ hours). I’ve heard great things about their laptops and the essentio desktop line they have is well worth a look if your in the market.

I have their UL30A laptop, which is the portable+mobile laptop they have, and I absolutely love it. Not a good gaming machine, but it works fine for anything else, including photoshopping (which I do a lot of). The battery lasts for 9 hours with Wifi on, and 10 hours once I installed my SSD. My girlfriend has the same laptop too and both of us absolutely love our machines :)

PS UCM '13!

Asus computers are the the best in terms of reliability
They have the lowest failure rate out of any other pc manufacturer… Hp has the highest failure rate

Cause they produce budget computers for the masses. HP’s are what the mom and pops go into walmart to buy cause “it’s cheap” and the associates selling them say “this is the perfect computer for you.”

It’s actually because HP has more marketing and has been in the laptop market longer than Asus. The laptops between the two companies are usually around the same price, but Asus definitely makes better machines.

The reason why Asus isn’t a big name right now is because for the past few decades, they’ve been making OEM parts, primarily motherboards. Their motherboards are very well regarded among the enthusiast community, but unfortunately, parts like motherboards, graphics cards, and sound cards are tailored towards computer enthusiasts like myself, and not your average consumer. That’s why to your average computer customer, “Asus” is a foreign name, whereas HP and Dell have been in the laptop market for over a decade, and although (IMO) they make very shoddy machines (Envy excluded), people like those companies more because the name is familiar.

Asus laptops can be customized. Xoticpc.com is one of a number of companies that customizes Asus laptops.

Mine came with 1yr accidental warranty and 2yr mfr warranty in the box, they have the best reliability on the market and some of the most competitive pricing.

Really the best laptops you can get.
