is the HP Pavillion dv6t a good laptop?

I just want a good performing laptop for college this fall and I was thinking of getting this laptop. Anyone who owns one mind sharing their experience with it?

I’m curious too. I’m torn between this and one of the Toshiba models.

There are better laptops available, but if you HAVE to go with an HP name, a dm3z would be a better buy, IMO.

Personally, I’d go with an Asus laptop with one of those new Core i3 processors, or even wait until summer for sales. There’s supossed to be a new tech released into laptops this summer that makes the battery last longer without sacrificing performance.

For College I would be looking at a smaller size instead of 15.6 as it may be a bit big/heavy to lug around. a 13-14" would be optimal. Apart from that the specs looks fine. If you want to have the ability to game get the Nvidia graphics card option instead of Intel. The only thing I would research about tho is the battery life. Don’t just go off what the manufacturer says. Find other people with the same laptop (online on other forums or in real life) and ask them.

I would not get it. The dv4 is the worst HP model, but the dv6 has had it’s problems as well. Toshiba is much better…and Asus is even better.

what kind of isssues are you aware of with the dv4 ?

Many of them have crashed including blue screening among other things. When I was working at Best Buy, the dv4’s were the most commonly returned computers. There was one day when we had a dozen returned, and about 9 returned the next day and then more sporadically after the big computer rush was done.

thanks so much… I was actually considering buying one … but not after your comments and what I did find on the internet about problems …
