At All Significant?

I'm a US resident, but not yet a citizen. Today I got an e-mail from a university that I applied to saying that they received my "registration number" on my application, but needed a scanned/faxed copy of my Green Card for their "records."

Does this imply that they're seriously considering my application, or just that they do want a copy of my Green Card for their own purposes?

Thanks.

They need this as proof that you are in possession of a green card and are not simply lying.

The schools needs your green card so as to abide by federal law. A school cannot accept an illegal. Just scan it and send it in. But I wouldnt take this as a sign that you are likely to get in.
