Okay, so K1 is a high school senior and K2 has applied as a first time boarder to a few schools for next year. K1 is in his “safety” school, no ED, waiting on RD results. K2 is waiting for M10 results. All apps complete, all CSS Profile, FAFSA, NAIS forms complete, taxes filed. The craziness of the admissions cycle became the new normal and now I find myself at loose ends. The reality that I may be an empty nester just hit me and what I thought would be an exciting next phase now seems terrifying! Anyone else find that this “calm before the storm” is the hardest part of the process?
Yes yes yes! Although I am a student, not a parent. The waiting before the huge storm reminds me when I’m waiting for the doctor to give me shot. It’s so hard.
Good luck to both of your kids.
yeah…I remember that ‘calm’ but once decisions are made and plans in place ( and a little summer distraction), you’ll be equally invested in a different way. Even by remote… she’s still a big part of each and every day for me. Sometimes I think even closer than if she was in the house.

Haha you were so hilarious then!! I never knew you liked Thrift Shop. @PhotographerMom
I did a google trends to see the bimodal process in admissions. February is truly a lull before March Madness.
I wasn’t the only one @mathman1201 !
@PhotographerMom - thanks for that thread, I love it!
