The Naval Academy, rocked by a number of high-profile sexual assault and harassment scandals in the past year, plans to require all 4,000 midshipmen to take at least five hours of specialized instruction during each of their four years on the Annapolis campus.

The addition to the curriculum will begin in the fall and include coursework on dating, sexual consent, defining rape and violence prevention, Vice Adm. Rodney P. Rempt told a civilian panel of congressmen and presidential appointees yesterday....

this is actually a program change that has been in the works for some time. the administration saw the needs to consolidate the endlessly boring/overlapping SAVI, CMEO and ADEO trainings to make them more effective. they do contain information on sexual harassment, yes, but also alcohol and peer respect training.

<--- Biting his toungue 'till it bleeds.

Don't bit your toungue, by the time your girls are going to college every school in america will be requiring this type of program. Many state schools already have some program in place.

U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen will be required to take four one-hour sessions for each of their four years at the academy as part of an effort to prevent sexual harassment and assault.

The program, outlined yesterday before a congressional oversight committee in Annapolis, will start in the summer and mark the latest initiative intended to curb sexual misconduct and excessive drinking at the academy. The move comes after two high-profile sexual misconduct cases involving Navy football players and the formation of a Pentagon task force that investigated sexual improprieties at the naval and other military academies....

Which is precisely why I'm biting my tongue; because if I tell you exactly what I think of the fact that this stuff has to be "taught" instead of just being ENFORCED, then I WILL get banned.

As such, I'm just going to sit here and gnaw on the other side. The first is already pulped.
