Whatever grades are IN when you send your application to LSAC will count the most. Usually these are only through junior year (or whenever you apply). Law schools will sometimes request and/or consider any grades that follow, but these typically will not have quite as much weight provided they’re roughly the same.

Of course, if you’re waitlisted, your subsequent grades can matter a lot.

What matters is your GPA when the Admitting school looks at your application. Since most people who apply straight out of UG do so in Fall of Sr year, that means grades thru Spring semester of Jr year. Of course if you work for a couple of years and then apply to Law School, your entire college transcript would be a part of your application. Is this what you wanted to know?

Law schools may ask for a copy of your transcript for first semester of senior year (assuming that you are applying as a senior) and, if you are admitted, will undoubtedly ask for an official copy of your transcript showing that you graduated and with all of your senior year grades.

Is it better to take classes over the summer instead of an internship? If I don’t take classes my end of year Junior year (if things go to plan) will be a 3.75-8. But if I take a semester in the summer I can get it to a 3.8 for the end of junior year GPA. I’m a sophomore currently. I know my junior summer is taken up for study abroad and this would be my only opportunity to intern.

Any suggestions? Do internships look better or GPA?
