Atheist going to Christian Schools

Why someone would be looking at Catholic schools who thinks Catholics are the “worst of the bunch of Jesus people” is really beyond me.

There are thousands of schools he can look at-why should he set himself up to go somewhere he will look down on the majority of the student population.

Pepper makes me sneeze. And in this case, belly-laff! :)

One does have to wonder. Thanks for making my moment. ;)

Bring on the thumb-screws and the stretching racks! Mom’s making me go to Notre Dame!

Re King’s College: note the resignation of its former president, pundit Dinesh D’Souza:

It doesn’t sound like a very open-minded place.

I think to compare Jesuit schools to King’s College is like comparing apples to oranges.

In spite of what some may think all Christian schools are not alike.

Whistle thanks for the laugh back!

I understand you feeling like you might not fit in. I’m a Christian, and that would almost be like me wanting to go to BYU, which stands on Mormon beliefs. I would personally feel left out and rejected, just because no one would believe the same way I believe. But at the same time, I’m sure there are many people who are Christians who would accept you as a friend, despite your belief differences. I personally would not exclude or be rude to someone who is different than me in that way. That would go against what I believe. After all, I need to show the love that Christ showed me, because that is what I believe in and stand by. I’m sure that if you go there, there will be kind people who will converse with you and accept you as a friend. If people claim to be followers of Christ, they should reach out in love to you. Also, NYC is a huge city filled with a lot of diversity. I’m sure you will find people like yourself in NYC. It is such a diverse city with many different religious beliefs and faiths, and in an area where many are open to all types of people. Best of luck to you in your college search, and if it’s any consolation, I will be praying for your tough decision. :)

jadecoops has inadvertantly introduced an important, mysterious, oft misunderstood variable for Christians in this process, noting:

And indeed, as this forum illuminates, the decision can be confounding.

What jade has illuminated, is praying.

Specifically, WHAT should we pray for in this one? Do we really think that God might abandon of fail to use us if we went to the local community college vs. Wheaton vs. Yale?

We are told that God hears all prayers and answers those He ordains. What do we think God wants us to pray for in this process?

I’m not persuaded it might be as simple as “Which college, Lord?”

Did he send you chocolates on Valentine’s Day?

They just need to be careful what they touch when they reach out.

I pray that people will keep their stupid ideas such as this to themselves.
But guess what, god ain’t listening.

“Just call me Mr. Wonderful, a font of, well, it’s not wisdom, not encouragement, not civility. :frowning: Maybe the world’s last angry man?”

If we’re feeling bad about ourselves, no need to drag down others into our misery. Keep looking up. Smile. Pray hard and often. It works. I listen when you mean what you’re praying. Trust me.

Much love,

God ;)

P.S. Come and see me some Sunday, any Sunday, every Sunday. And quit worrying about your handicap. It’s got nothing to do with your golf game. :D

Are posts like GolfFather’s common on this site? Are there other threads where people’s ideas about God, college, whatever, are called stupid? I’m just curious what the CC policy is. I know they removed a thread because it was deemed political. Is that the only reason moderators remove posts?

And WP, we often pray for wisdom in decision making.
