Athlete Recruitment

I am an Indian (not a permanent resident) recruited by the swim & dive team of a US University ranked in the USNews Top 10. My coach says that as I am a top recruit, I'm pretty much in. He has even sent a recommendation to admissions and has placed me at the top of his recruitment list. My profile is pretty much like that of any other Ivy applicant (with realistic chances) and my ECs are very (i mean very) different from your regular Asian. My application is great and all that stuff about "great" recs, essays etc. but...

...How much does Athlete Recruitment actually help? Does that make adcoms slack upon your stats a bit? Do they "try" to get you in if you're a top recruit? Do they ignore some of your flaws which they wouldn't have in a "regular" (non-recruit) applicant's profile?

To what degree does recruitment "actually" help?

If you are a top recruit, it really will boost your chances. a lot. Have fun at UChicago

If you're a recruited athlete you're in.
