athletes in wharton?

i would say one thing that attracts athletes to Penn and not HYP would be because of Wharton. even though the majority of Penn athletes are enrolled in CAS, they do take up a lot of space in wharton, which has such a limited amount of seats. does any one know around how many in wharton are recruited athletes, thus guaranteed admission? 100? 75?

about 16 for a team. i'm a swimmer and it's 8 for men and 8 for women and 2 for diving. i guess multiply it out

there are 30 varsity team i think...... so 480 lol. The entire wharton class is athletes

My friend, a nationally acknowledged swimmer and a water polo player, was applying to one of the joint degree programs (wharton + something else). But the Penn coach, after consulting with the admissions office, said that my friend would not get in if he applies to that or even just wharton. He was being recruited everywhere else, so this just shows either 1) Penn was recruiting Ian Thorpe or 2) not all athletes are guaranteed acceptance to Wharton. (He was later accepted at other Ivy+ schools).

but i have looked at the team profiles, and good 15% of them are in wharton. that to me, given the number of athletes penn has, is certainly around 50-75 which is an extremely large percentage of wharton's class.

hah the entire wharton class is not athletes

in my wharton classes there have been a good number of football / basketball players

That would suck if all the non recruited athletes were competing for the final 20 spots.

flavono, as a swimmer, I know that they do recruit much less than national swimmers. I assure you that wharton atheletes, at least in swimming, are not ridicously exceptional

You are recruited because you are an athlete they want. If you have really good academics and they need to offer you a spot at Wharton, they can and will. There are certainly athletes who are recruited by HYPS and choose Wharton and Penn over all of them.
