Athletes/Research

Hi everyone... do you guys know if it's possible to do undergraduate research and participate in a varsity sport? thanks

One of the guys in my lab group is on the varsity track team and does quite well and has been in the lab group for almost a year and close to his first publication.

its certainly possible. extremely demanding though. your ability to do research and varsity sports is dependent on so many other things. your major, how well you manage yourself and your time, etc. read this article. the first guy is a swimmer (a dang good one too). He's done all sorts of stuff and still managed to swim. Swimming is the most time intensive sport here, which adds to the accomplishment (swimmers atleast as much time physically in the water than in class weekly. thats not counting out of the water training)
