Atlas Shrugged: The Movie

Perhaps this is old news by now but they are making a movie of Atlas Shrugged. It's being done in three parts with the first part coming out sometime in April.

I'm actually excited to see this movie, Rand is often very very long-winded and so a well written screenplay could really bring some life into the text.

You can see the trailer or part I on Youtube now.

atlas shrugged waht is dat

^ It’s a book by Ayn Rand, despite being a genuinely bad book it’s one of the best selling novels of all time. To many it acts as a “libertarian (technically Objectivist but w/e) manifesto”

Did you read this book?

I haven’t actually read this one of Ayn Rand, but I’m pretty sure someone told me (or maybe not me specifically, but they were talking about it) that there was a movie of Atlas Shrugged.

Is there a movie for Das Kapital?

Partial answer to my own question: There seems to be at least one. However, it is 9.5 hours long.

This is good. Maybe I’ll watch the movies instead of trying to slog through that monster of a book.

Who is John Galt? lOl

“This is good. Maybe I’ll watch the movies instead of trying to slog through that monster of a book.”

The book is actually pretty easy to read, despite it’s intimidating size.

My only concern is that the film is “based on” Ayn Rand’s book. Depending upon the personal politics and philosophy of the filmmakers, it could be thought-provoking or a sham.

^^That’s alright. I don’t feel like plunging headfirst into a pool of objectivism at the moment either.

Upon seeing this thread, my first thought was, “NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”

Although the trailer changed my mind.

After reading that 1000-something page monster, I’m not sure I could stomach a three-part movie of it. The trailer makes it look at least moderately entertaining.
