So I had a university required class this semester. The only time they took attendance was in recitation on Friday which I went to every week and he did this by just yelling out names and we had to say here. So the class consisted of 4 essays, attendance, and participation. I averaged a 3.0 on the essays and if I'm being honest didn't participate in front of the class often but we were in groups a lot which still counted as participation. Also for about 3 classes we just had to write a paragraph and it counted as participation. So while participation may have been on the low side it shouldn't have been 0. So I get my grade back and its a 2.0. I emailed asking why it was that as I did fine on the essays and he said I had several weeks of no attendance (I went to every class except the last one which we were allowed to skip) and low participation. But mostly for the attendance issue. They do not believe me that I was there even though I swear to you I was! It is my word against theirs but I feel like I did the work and my GPA is being brought down for them messing up attendance! So my question to you is were do I go from here? Is there anything I can do or do I just move on and accept it? Thanks

Did you take notes during any of those sessions? Do you remember the topics? Can other people vouch for having worked with you in group projects? Is your name similar to someone else’s? Might they have checked off the attendance on the wrong line?

Or did you not go on the days other than Friday, and that’s what’s bringing down your grade?

Is it possible that you arrived to class late or left early and missed when they took attendance? Could they have sent around a sign in sheet that you missed or weren’t aware of during several class sessions? Did you ask them how they were keeping track of attendance since you say they only took attendance on the first session?
