Attended UCI about 2 years left for a CC restart. Am I screwed?

I attended UCI for roughly two years and obtained a junior standing. I ended up with 2.7 cumulative GPA, by the time I decided to leave the university. (Lots of C’s and B’s maybe a D or two) I must add I have a good amount of W’s from UCI during those period(s). I would say 6 to 8 tops.

Furthermore, while I started the CC, I also kind of went on a bender again and took 4 W’s. I do have a very malleable 3.0 after my first year at CC; so, I have decided to change my ways.

I want to transfer to another UC with a different major. I am somewhat aware of a transfer credit limit to the UC’s. I figured, with my junior standing at UCI (and all those C’s and B’s), I might be above that limit.

Will that 2.7 junior transcript pretty much screw me in terms of attending a UC ever again, due to the UCI credits? When transferring, would it also lower the new CC GPA I end up earning (as schools require all previous schools attended)? Is there an academic renewal-like thing I can do? Should I just forget about attending a decent to top university again?

Thanks in advance.

Add up the CC units and cap them at 70 semester units. To that number, add the UCI units (note: 1.5 quarter units = 1 semester unit). Compare the result with the limits shown in https://www.ucdavis.edu/sites/default/files/upload/files/f17tip_unitlimits.pdf .

Even if the unit limit is not a problem, as a practical matter, transfer admission to most majors at many UCs with a college GPA around 3.0 will be difficult: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major . UCM, UCR, and UCSC may be your most realistic UC chances if you do not want to return to UCI. Returning to UCI would be an obvious option, since you presumably left in good standing (as opposed to being dismissed or leaving while on academic probation). Some CSUs could also be options.
