So I'm looking at Math 20F and the teacher I want, Stevens, is fully waitlisted. I signed up for Kong but that time slot is horrible for me. If I go to Stevens then attend Kongs discussions will I be okay? I'd like to know if anyone has done something like this before and how it worked out.

Becuase these two teachers are obviously going to go at different paces, but the material should be the same right? Also I've heard Stevens is the best math teacher at ucsd.

I have no experience doing this, but common sense tells me it would not be a smart idea. Different professors test/quiz on different concepts and they’ll emphasize different things in their lectures. Sounds like a sketch idea in my opinion.

That’s true, but I took kong in the fall quarter and his midterms are relatively easy and very comparable to the ones he posts online. Also since I will be going to all TA discussions and my friends who are also taking him will go I feel okay with it. Also no quizzes that I remember.

Sounds like a plan. Just keep up with homework and keep reviewing what your professor’s lectures are covering and you’re golden. 20F seems to have a very consistent curriculum after having taken it and tutoring a few of my friends who’ve had it with different professors.

I did it a lot, especially for the Chem 6 series.

Just make sure you know all the material that can possibly be tested on & make sure you go to a discussion section connected to Kong’s lecture session.

I have heard of people doing this before, and you’re right, Stevens is supposed to be a great professor. as xpenguin said, make sure you are in Kong’s lecture for the quizzes. I think you would be fine as long as you keep up with the schedule for 20F.
