Does anyone know what it would be like if I had to go to school fulltime (at either SAIS or Fletcher) AND work part time? Is it POSSIBLE to balance the two??? If you know anyone that DID that or IS doing it, I would really like to talk to them. I asked the schools too (if they could ask their students to get in touch with me) but they're being a little slow. Or maybe I just feel that b/c I am in a state of frenzy....have been for a couple of weeks now. I'm really not enjoying this decision making process at all.

I know SAIS is pretty flexible with working, since MANY students seek internships and work part-time at NGOs and the like when they're not in class. Thats one of the great pluses about being in DC. SAIS professors and faculty are well aware of the connections in DC and encourage their students to pursue them.

I'm a second-year Fletcher student. Worked part-time for most of last year (about 20 hours a week). I was doing business strategy work, most of it remotely though I was in New York on most Fridays for meetings. I didn't work first semester this year because I needed a break. Working part-time and attending Fletcher is challenging. I was also pursuing two of the more intense fields of study (International Business and Security Studies) so that was a factor as well. It can definitely be done, but you'll need to keep your workload at Fletcher realistic.
