ATTENTION CLASS OF 2019 (2015 SENIORS)

Just a thread I thought I'd make to just post about your progress with apps over the summer? Like how much have you completed so far, what is still left to do, etc. etc. Hope this thread helps those who aren't sure how to start or when to start their apps over the summer and just give a rough timeline! Plus it will be fun to share all of our plans for the upcoming admissions season

I have done nothing. My school doesn’t give me apps and what not. Do you research that stuff on your own?

Haven’t started my essays yet and I still have standardized testing in the fall ■■■…

We’re kind of already doing this in the 2015 discussion thread but w/e

I’m almost done with my first draft for the common app essay (I’m doing the first one). But I also have my SAT, ACT, and SAT Physics tests to study for.

I’m just about finished with my Common App essay, and six of the nine schools that I’m applying to have already received my SAT scores. Recs & transcripts aren’t sent out by my school until late September, but I don’t have to worry about that.

I got to think of my common app topic (I have a few choices, none extremely great I don’t think though) and then I will be studying for the October SAT as well!

Gotta take the Bio subject test in October!
I’ve drafted a common app essay, but idk how I feel about it right now.

Done with testing! Pretty much finished with Common App essay - spent about 3 weeks working pretty hard on it - but will re-read and revise in August. Haven’t started supplements yet.

Still working on common app. Also have to take SATs one last time and Math II and lit subject tests :^(

Started applying for scholarships (about 20 so far submitted), have already drafted my personal statement (of course I’ll have a lot of people read it before submission), need to take the ACT (have been prepping a lot over the summer hoping for a 30), I might take two subject tests because the fee waivers give me two free and I want to impress colleges with extra scores (and hate wasting free things), debating over retaking the SAT or just going with ACT, have to do some prep before school starts (taking 4-5 AP classes), and I have finalized the colleges I’m applying to (7), but I have a ton of questions for my guidance counselor. College stress is TOO REAL!! I hope to submit everything by late November. Then January I fill out financial aid and February the letters of acceptance or rejection start coming in. :-<

Trying and failing to write the Common App essay (and other supplements). My drafts have been garbage thus far.

Where do you find the prompts for the personal statements? Is that under each college? Or is it the common app essay? I’m confused about that.

@AnImpAffliction You have to look under each college. Some require additional essay(s) in addition to the Common App one.

It will all be on the Common App though after August 1st, right?

Where do you guys find scholarships?

I’m currently coping with writer’s block sorrows about my personal essay… still need to write a couple essays for the college I’m applying ED to, finish up my theatre resume/portfolio, write a gap year essay… ,hjfb, ejhbfkjw the struggle…

I’m currently writing out all my supplemental essays so that I won’t have to do them when senior year hits! A college-bound friend of mine did so and she told me it was the best decision she ever made regarding applications, so I’m giving it a shot.

@theluckylinguist‌ Thats awesome! How do you know if they are for this year, though?

I chugged a monster and crashed through common app and apply Texas essays, so I have all of my rough drafts. On a related note, do not chug monster.
