Attn. UCSD management science majors

Ok, if your like me, you might have been a little bit iffy on the major. I mean, at transfer admit day, the counselors knew nothing, and it seemed like a great degree and all (amazing curriculum) but little recognition, especially in application to the finance world. Then I came across this.... Now thats what Im talkin' about.....
Before reading this, I was set on USC if I get in, now I might have a decision on my hands.....

Good lookin out. I'm considering this major and it seems fairly interesting. Also, could you possibly post your stats evo? (maybe you posted them elsewhere but I don't want to look, please excuse my laziness)

thanks
sas

man whyd u have to find that. now i feel like i should stay in man sci but i still dont wanna take the math :(

Anyone know the different job prospects between Man Sci and regular Econ? I'm transferring to UCSD in the fall as regular Econ, but i'm thinking about changing to ManSci.

ManSci is a beefed up, math-oriented Economics. Not necessarily better though.

The UCSD Economics curriculum is amazing, that's why I chose it over UCLA.

listen, you guys.

I'm a transfer from a cc to management science. I was iffy about it at first too. i'm gonna give you a quick rundown of what's going on here, because i care about transfers, and i'm your leader on campus.

i'm vp external for the undergraduate investment society. basically what we do is provide investment career preparation for students in ucsd. look, i'll put this very plainly: UCSD students are #$@%ing smart. I thought i was smart until i met the ballers at UIS. I spent time around people at haas, they have NOTHING on guys like this. Bioengineers, Mechanical engineers, med school majors, all with more investment knowledge then me, and i'm taking my CFA in december. soon, we'll provide ucsd students with a way to connect to MD's and VP's in investment banks, called the financial professional network. it's all listed on our website UIS: Undergraduate Investment Society

secondly, there are no other uc campuses that have actual practicable investment funds like we do. we have a 300,000 dollar, student managed investment fund, of whom i am executive operating manager. you really need to get your **** together to manage this fund, and trust me, the senior analysts do.

thirdly, there are only a couple of majors that come close to preparing you like the program at ucsd does. uc irvine, berkeley, la's quantitative econ and math econs are good, but nowhere close. our curriculum KILLS when it comes to investment preparation. applied econometrics, financial insurance, financial markets..

and lastly, dont be afraid of the math. yeah, its hard, but yeah, everyone else thinks its hard too. so you end up with pretty big curves. if you study enough, you can get through it. i failed math in cc, but i busted my ass here and got through it. its ok-you can too.

and yeah. our econ curriculum is incredible. stick with ucsd, stick with management science. what the hell are haas people going to do when they dont know black scholes/dcf/wacc coming out of school? nothing. but you will. so dont worry about the education, and as far as the jobs go, UIS will get you there. eventually. just get involved.

jeez. you guys are doing big things. im just a sociology major wanting to be in Human Resources...I feel so weak now.

Zemookmook... Damn kid, you threw that ***** down, lol. I already joined the UIS email list at transfer admit day, but how do I go about getting more involved once I am there? I am very interested.

i turned down UCSD management science
for UCSB Bus/Econ

ehh i always felt UCSD was a little under represented business wise
idk it will affect me that much

wow really? UCSD management science is that good? i am very much impressed. Is it better than UCB's Econ program? I realize that there is something in the management science program. i was very interested in it. it was my back up if i didnt get into UCB Econ.
