@violingirl20 Suffolk! Hopefully things go better for you, good luck!
@poliscinewbie When did you get your package?
@datcatti Wow, that thing showed on my Informed Delivery USPS also. Does that mean I didn’t get the AU package?
Nothing arrived today in Boston. Daughter who is home sick just checked. ARGH!!! @americamom did your acceptance letter include merit scholarship and financial aid? Wondering if accepted students have to wait even longer to find out their financial packet …
@student12322 It came in a regular sized mail
@student12322 I wouldn’t discount it. my mail comes super early… its possible it could arrive at the mailing center this afternoon but because my mail comes so early I didn’t get it
@ashceeya I’m in Suffolk and I just got my mail - nothing
I can’t take 24 more hours of this agony - I’ve barely slept all week. This is my top school and has been since 8th grade.
@ashceeya I just noticed that we have the same SAT score. However, I applied under the test-optional plan so that chances could be higher. Out of curiosity, how come you didn’t apply to the test-optional plan?
so does anyone know why the acceptance rate is so low but the act/sat range is not very high??
Chancing for AU RD is so hard because their common data set shows they value GPA, Course Rigor, and Demonstrated Interest in AU above everything else. Also, Test Scores are hardly relevant (in the considered category)
@violingirl20 I feel that pain. I’m assuming yours should be on its way, probably arriving tomorrow the latest. I’m not sure what your gpa/sats looked like but I’d say just hope for the best. Did you apply to any other DC schools?
I am going to be out of town for the next week… do you think I could call/email the American rep for my state and ask if I got in?
@snr2018 The common data set states the medium ACT is 26-31. What they accept and those who decide to attend are very different numbers. The CDS list those that actually enrolled. So their medium 50% ACT scores for those who enrolled are 26-31 for the class 2016-17 (latest data).
We are seeing kids on this thread with higher stats being waitlisted so it is confusing, but every school this year are getting record amount of applications.
@student12322 Honestly I’m not exactly sure why I didn’t apply test-optional. At the time I assumed that maybe they’d preferred if I’d sent my SAT scores, so I did it in the off-chance it might help (which it probably didn’t but oh well). I did apply to the GW test-optional though
I’m so freaking nervous. Nothing was received and I’m in Oklahoma. I’ve showed so much interest in the school for like two years and I have a lot of extracurriculars. (Ex. ACLU internship, WASHU global scholar, Foresight Prep Alumna) I was also announced a coke scholar earlier this year so I’m hoping that gives me a little edge on the rest of the RD applicant pool. This whole process is unbelievably nerve wracking.

@snr2018 you could try but I honestly don’t think they’d tell you. you might just have to wait till you get back, or maybe ask someone to check your mail for you?
My D just received hers in Coastal NC. I’m not opening it (even though I reeeeeeeeeeeally want to). Big envelope and it says “Welcome to American University” on it. I am SO excited…I wasn’t even this excited about getting into school.
High stat applicants are wait listed to protect their yield because AU feels they are less likely to enroll if accepted. They dont want to be used as a safety so its the burden of a high stat Applicat to prove that AU is their number one. My admissions rep said ED is the best way, followed by contacting the school, campus visits, attending webinars, etc
nothing for me today in Fort Worth, TX. hopefully tomorrow!!!
