AU SIS admissions

AU’s SIS (School of International Service) seems to be one of the crown jewels. Does anybody have an idea as to whether AU SIS admissions standards are tougher than AU generally? I assume admissions stats for SIS are not reported separately, but perhaps there are comments from admissions people or others at AU or perhaps HS counselors or consultants have some experience?

AU does admit by major, meaning that admission into SIS is going to be more competitive than admission into other majors. It’s the hardest major to get into, with political science being a close second.

Did this change? I have from my notes at our info session “students admitted to AU as a whole, does not vary by school”. That would have been visiting in spring 2018.

It has changed a bit. Major plays a minor role in admission, but is not a huge contributing factor. For example, AU is more likely to admit a student applying for a developing program (such as STEM) than an already established program like political science, where the pool of applicants is very broad if the applicants are extremely similar.
