Audition advice

It depends where you are auditioning.

This dress says, “MT” and that is great for MT auditions, but it may be unpractical for an acting audition where they may want to work with you in a workshop or individually. Check to see what each department suggests for auditions (or call if it’s not clear) - if they say to dress comfortably and to be ready to move/work etc, you should have an alternative outfit. If it is a school where you do one audition that could get you into MT or acting, this one dress is fine.

It is a beautiful dress, and I have seen MT girls “compete” (at festivals and judging events) in this sort of dress. But in my opinion these dresses are a touch on the special occaision/dinner/party side, and I am always reminded of pagents when I see them. An audition is a special occasion, but it is also a business occaision. I would ask her if she would wear the same dress to a college interview at the school. If the answer is no, I’d feel overdressed, I think I’d go for something a touch more casual. Its more about the color and the fabric than than the cut. This same dress in a less formal fabric and color would work fine.
