Can I just have any audition advice? Like, where to find great monologues and anything else that might be useful to someone who is EXTREMELY anxious about auditions?

My best advice to you is to spend a few hours reading on College Confidential. There’s a search function and you will find a lot of threads about selecting monologues. You will also be interested in reading about people’s audition experiences. Break a leg!

There are a lot of books written about how to audition, also a lot of websites, even youtube videos, etc.

The way to find monologues is to read lots and lots of plays. There really is no shortcut. You are going to have to turn off your computer and actually look at hardcopy books in libraries or bookstores. (Actually there ARE shortcuts, but the people who use the shortcuts usually don’t do as well in their auditions, so I don’t recommend the shortcuts). THen doublecheck with lists of “overdone” monologues you can find online to make sure you haven’t chosen an “overdone” monologue.

Make sure you know what the time limits on your monologues are. You are often given, say, three minutes to do two monologues, so it averages about a minute and a half per monoligue. That is very short. And it is a maximum, not a minimum, you can give shorter monologues but should not give longer ones that go over time. People think a “monologue” is long so folks often read plays until they find a monologue that’s like 20 minutes long then say “oops, how do I cut this down to under a minute and a half?”

If you have any other specific questions, there are a lot of folks here that would be happy to discuss them with you.
