I know friends who are going to auditions this weekend, and my D's first one is next Saturday. Would love to hear people's experiences....the good, the bad and the ugly. Break a leg everyone!

Well, my S has had one audition so far–he did Muhlenberg last month, and it was a great experience. They do theirs differently, as the kids have to schedule them individually rather than attending an event. We drove up the night before, my S had an admissions interview in the morning, then reported to the theater building at noon to meet with program director Charles Richter and attend a class. (Huge bonus: one of his friends from his summer program was there auditioning too, so they went to class together.) Both boys loved the class, I enjoyed getting to know the other kid’s parents while we waited (and then had a tour of the facility), and the audition–and subsequent feedback–were very positive and encouraging for my son. The school moved very high on his list, and we’re planning to go back in December to see another show.

It was a great start and will be a tough act to follow! Hope your daughter’s audition goes equally well and that you’ll keep us posted. Our next trip will be to Ithaca in early December. Nothing like waiting for winter to have all these road trips to the northeast…

@Times3, I know what you mean! We are driving to Syracuse and Ithaca in mid-January. I am keeping my fingers crossed for not too much snow (I think it’s too much to ask to wish for NO snow in upstate NY in mid-January).

We are in Boston for an Emerson audition a week from tomorrow…I will definitely post with our thoughts afterwards! Sounds like things went well at the 'Berg for you…my D has LOTS of friends there who love it. My D herself is not applying, but I hear that everyone loves the school after their visit there. Please keep us posted after Ithaca!
