August 7th Doolie Day Out Information

Well, we asked for communication, and we got it. This was posted on the USAFA AOG website today, and since it specifically asks that we disseminate it, I am copying and pasting below.

Sounds like Doolie Day out on Sunday, August 7th is for Sponsor families and cadets only----NO PARENTS. Makes sense to me. The directive is very clear, and I for one, plan to respect it. The host families will no doubt play an integral role in the lives of our basic cadets, and we should not interfere in the bonding—no matter how tempting.

The Sponsor Office called over to let us know there is incorrect information out there about Doolie Day Out. They asked me to post this and ask parents to disseminate it as much as possible. If someone can get this out on the family comm channels, it would be appreciated.

From Cadet Sponsor Office: As per our conversation, parents cannot pick up their cadets for Doolies Day Out. We have assigned all cadets to sponsor families and all paperwork has gone out. This is an official Academy function and it is extremely important for the cadets to have some time with the sponsors in order to start building, what could be, a lifelong relationship.

If you could please get the word out to parents that the earlier information was incorrect and they can’t pick up their cadet, we would be so grateful. It has been an absolute zoo around here trying to field all of these calls.

Thanks for your help,

In short,
Doolie Day Out (Aug 7th) for cadet and sponsor.

Thanks for passing on such info. However, through my "sources" I discovered that information very similar to this has already made its way to FamNet.

Cadet UN---
That is terrific. I'm not a member of FamNet (yet) so that is good to hear. As the sponsorship office said---we should disseminate as much as possible. I'm sure it's no fun fielding calls (similar to the fun of arguing with parents at Field Day, I'm sure ;)

By the way, my grad husband thinks your screen name is great. Says it is simply the perfect screen name for a cadet. All the best to you. I hope you are ready to tackle the rigors of your upcoming year. I have so much admiration for you young men and women.

Glad to hear it! We're a DDO sponsor family and sponsor for numerous cadets. We wondered how they were going to handle this and are glad to see they got this right. Clear, concise comm with easily understood and clear standards--the essence of leadership! Good job, USAFA!
