Only one week away! Anyone know what uniform they wear out that day? Have they already been issued their blues with blue hats (covers)? Anyone know what that uniform (short sleeve blue shirt, blue pants, blue cover) is called? If they wear “blues”, it will probably be a good feeling for the Basics just to be in a different uniform and looking more stylish! Although, I’m sure they’ll be out of it very quickly at the sponsors’ houses!

They do wear blues (yes, that is what they are called with the short sleeves) with white gloves. They take PC gear with them which they change into once they are at their sponsor's house.

If my understanding is correct- the Doolie Day out sponser family may be differant than the "sponser" family the cadets will have the remaining years.
Is that correct ? thanks

yes. My B&B, doolie day out, and current sponsor families were ALL different. Usually the case unless you have prior coordination.

Have the cadets been informed of thier DDO sponsor families yet? Will parents get those details too / seperately?

Does anybody know what time the sponsors pick up the basics and when they are taken back to the academy?

hornetguy - what is PC gear? The reason I'm wondering is if they haven't had access to their street clothes they might be kinda nasty in another weeks time.

I think it stands for personal conditioning or something like that. In other words it's the mesh shorts and t-shirts with colored collar that you would wear for working out or something like that. Much more comfortable than BDU's or blues.

the basics should not find out until the meet the family. they will all stand out in the parking lots at the field house and 2 dig lot, and as sponsors show, the basics' names will be called. mine ddo family ended up being my current sponsor for my cadet time.

i don't recall the time of the pick-up, except that it was not early. i would guess about 11, but i am not sure. they return around 6 or 7 i believe.

pc gear (or pt gear) is physical conditioning gear. its the t-shirt and shorts that they wear every morning for training (running or what not). they have enough pairs to wear a clean one.

and they will not have access to their civies. they may be allowed to go to their bags to get their cell phones for the day, but no guarantees. sponsors normally have phones though anyway that basics can use

Gee - I thought PC gear was "politically correct"!!!!! ha ha

I thought "personal clothing" sounded like real deal-LOL

I remember being told both my regular year sponsor and doolie-day-out sponsor when I checked in at Doolittle Hall that first day. Maybe they changed it, but I would have imagined they already know.
