<p>UCLA or Berkeley. I've never been to Charlottesville myself but I can't imagine it having better weather, places and people than either Los Angeles or San Francisco. California is the place to be - no wonder we've got more internationals in the UCs, both exchange and full-time, than any other state system.</p>

<p>alright. im from Berkeley,CA and I gotta say that the SF Bay Area is one of the greatest cultural meccas in the world. There are people from all over the world and you will get to experience an atmosphere as dynamic as Los Angeles without getting lost and much more dynamic than Virginia. If you really want to experience American culture (the melting pot) to the fullest, UCLA or Berkeley would definitely be your best bet. </p>
<p>At Berkeley, you are literally in the middle of an urban downtown area. Walk one block west and you will run into a "sprawling" (as much as it gets for a town of 100 thousand) downtown area with TONS of restaurants, movie theaters and other recreation centers. Of course, there is some crime in Berkeley but that is inherent in any urban neighborhood. </p>
<p>So.... choose Berkeley! or UCLA.</p>
<p>The cultural thing is being overblown. UVA is pretty diverse and is in a fairly nice area. If you really want to visit a "urbane" city, you can always just drive up to D.C, Philly, or NYC.</p>
