is it true that uiuc auto admits ppl thru the computer? whats the diff btw admit and admit-college reviewed? if anyone knows plz get bk thx

Each college can provide criteria, particularly class rank and test score, that will allow the computer to automatically admit those above the levels given without further review. That generally applies only to high applicants and does not even apply to them if their high school does not rank. Also, a college can refuse to allow that -- for example, the business college requires that it review the files of all applicants. Thus, the vast majority of appllicants will not be admitted by that method and instead their files will be reviewed by admissions personnel to determine admission. When the computer shows Deferred -- College Review or something similar, it simply means that the applicant has not been accepted automatically and the college will review his file. When the Computer shows Admit--College Reviewed, it means the applicable admissions personnel have reviewed the file and have determined the applicant has been admitted.

my high school doesnt rank and I got in auto admit.

Hey, what were your stats?

yeah, mine doesn't rank either and i got in auto-admit...

my stats were:

ACT-35
Class Rank- Top 10%
GPA-4.31
a lot of ecs, etc.

1430 or 2200 SATs
GPA 3.3 UW :P

this was good enough for an auto-admit to engineering (electrical)

1480/2220
33
top 1%
4.6 something weighted

though i'm curious about exactly what qualifies someone for automatic admission, about what combination of scores, rank, etc. does the trick
