Are freshmen guaranteed housing? Are you able to live on campus all four years?

Housing apps are filled first-come, first-served and can be sent immediately upon acceptance into the university. And admissions acceptance is made on a rolling basis. So while I don’t believe housing GUARANTEED, it’s clear that early app for admission followed by immediate app for housing equals high certainty of housing.

There is some apt-style housing for upperclassmen, and I am assuming on-campus residence is possible all 4 years. I know a sizeable chunk move off-campus but don’t know the % of juniors/seniors who do so.

See info here: http://housing.uiowa.edu/departments/housing/howtoapply.htm

you are able to live in the dorms all four years.
housing isn’t guaranteed but i think enough kids go to frats/sororities or off campus voluntarily to make it relatively easy to get housing

however, i do know of some people who sent in their housing apps in november and already had to settle for their third or fourth choice of residence hall

So… daughter just received acceptance to Iowa – what dorm should she try to get into?? She will be liberal arts/science, basically undecided. She is sending in the deposit today to get on the list (September)

I suspect I should be getting a acceptance letter soon, though I also will have to send my test scores ( oct 10th) out to the school to be considered for scholarships etc…
