Are freshmen guaranteed housing? Are you able to live on campus all four years?

Freshman (other than those who actually live in the area) are required to stay in the on-campus dorms or what is called Private Certified Housing (dorms or apartment like buildings that are close to campus, privately owned, and approved for housing by the university). Key to know when applying is that housing is doled out in order of applications received for housing (which you send in after being accepted) and thus if you want choice of dorm, the earlier you apply the better. Those who apply for housing later such as in April to May 1 face a serious risk of getting temporary housing (make-shift rooms often set up in areas of dorms that are normally not rooms) because regular spots are already filled. You can live on campus all years but most by junior year choose to do otherwise.

If you know which dorm you want to be in (for instance ISR is closer to Engineering quad) I would put down the deposit right after you’re admitted to increase your chances of getting what you want.
