<p>Asian/Male/Living in California/Single working parent/family of five</p>

<p>My GPA and scores are not that great but I am aspiring to get into the following colleges:
UC Berkeley
UC LA
UC San Diego
UC Irvine
UC Davis
Tufts
Boston College
U PENN
Carnegie Mellon</p>

<p>Best SAT score at one sitting: 690M, 680CR, 640W (I know its not that great T_T) My score before this one was: 720M, 630CR, 650W, only 10 points less
SAT 2 scores: 790 Korean, 700 Math 2C, 650 US HISTORY</p>

<p>AP Scores: US HISTORY 3 (Junior Year), Calc AB 3( Junior Year), Biology 5 (Sophomore year)</p>

<p>GPA 9-12 Unweighted: 3.7179, 9-12 Weighted: 4.2821, 10-12 Unweighted: 3.92, 10-12 Weighted: i dont know..do colleges weight all honors classes? i took 8 Honors/AP classes in 10th and 11th
I took 2 high school honors classes in 8th grade but did not do well(geometry honors: B first semester, C second semester and Biology Honors: B first, C second)
9th grade: 2 B's first semester, 1 B second, rest A's
10th grade: 1 B in Biology AP first semester, Rest A's
11th grade: straight A's
12th: not doing that hot ( took more ap classes than i could handle, and also taking two science classes which was not a good idea)

School's stage band:10-12
School's marching band: 11-12 (Flute Section Leader, Assistant Woodwind Captain, Band Council's Treasurer all in 12th)

*Edit: marching band took a lot of my time--over 20 hours/week</p>

<p>I did not take part in any summer programs ( i regret it though...i should have taken some but i took summer school classes instead at a community college)

<p>Teacher rec's are pretty good but one of them is not that personal...got them from teachers i have known for 3-4 years
Counselor rec wasnt pretty personal either. Seems like she rushed it because she had to write letters for many other people.</p>

<p>Essays: wrote about how band has changed me into a person with more confidence and leadership</p>

<p>Very nervous...please post what my chances are...</p>

<p>you have pretty good EC's but you lack basic material, chances are you will make it into all of those school besides Penn</p>

<p>yeah its getting really hard to get into those colleges. It may be hard for you to get into the privates especially since you're SAT scores arent top notch. Your math and cr amount to 1370 which is okay i guess but your writing score just brought u down</p>

<p>dang. canigetawhatwhat's reply has made me really sad...didn't know it was that hard to get into those colleges. I really wanna get accepted to Tufts or LA. Hey..Classof08, what do you mean by basic material?</p>
