Average Courseload

I was reading an admissions blog post recently about current classes taken by a student and was uncertain as to how many classes most Chicago students took? I know that the academic calendar is different but I didn't know how that translated into courses at one time.

My impression was that most students, in general, take maybe 4 classes?

Thanks.

You can graduate with taking 3 classes half of the time you’re here and 4 classes the other half. If you come in with AP credit, you can take even less. A lot of people sign up for four and drop the one they like the least.

erik, either 3 or 4 courses per quarter is considered full time. You need 42 courses (we don’t have a credit hours system- one course is considered one credit) to graduate- so you can balance incoming AP credits with quarters of either three or four courses to make this work.

thanks! That cleared it up.
