I was just accepted as a transfer and know that i won't get my FA package until about mid-may, but just out of curiousity... did any RD students receive their packages? About how much did you get? This is now my next worry... will they give me enough? because I most certainly can't afford too much, even if it is only two more years. Although, I am certain I'm not the only one to feel this way, especially today! Also, has anyone tried to get more FA from Emerson (past and current students?) I wonder how successful they were... I know some colleges are willing to work with you while others are final on their offer.

hey leisha09,

i was accepted for RD, but i haven’t received anything for financial aid, yet. i was wondering if anyone else has received anything, as well.

i got some loans, but nothing official from financial aid yet.

My DD received a folder with a letter regarding financial aid mid last week. Unfortunately, she did not qualify for any financial aid but they also included info about loans, etc that would be available. (only $5500 in loans…)

I know the maximum Emerson institutional need-based grant is $23000, which I got with an EFC of $2800 (applied EA) - they were very generous, which was surprising because I know that’s not their reputation.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday, and it said fin aid inforomation will be out in like two weeks, I think.

My son was accepted early action and we thought we had all the forms submitted by the February 15 early action financial aid deadline, but something was screwed up with our tax form and we had to resubmit it so we missed the deadline. Now he is grouped in with the regular admission students that had the March deadline and even though the college assures me this will have no affect on his financial aid package, I’m thinking that if the early action applicants were awarded pretty substantial packages, that the aid will not be as much if you are considered at a later date. Does anyone know if this is true?

D got her fin. aid package today with a need-based grant of $23,000. EFC was 4,500.

We got our daughter’s fin. aid package today and were pleasantly surprised. Like disimale (post #5) I had also heard that Emerson was a bit tight with the money but I thought their package was very nice. Not the maximum they give but close enough to put them at the top of my list. Not only that but I loved how they presented the information (very informative) and I love the “tuition pay” plan where you can pay monthly at 0% interest. Depending on what NYU gives this could be the one.

Shell8561 I’m in the same boat as you!!
I hope they still are generous considering I already sent in my deposit!
Best of luck to your son as well!

Is my S the only one here still waiting to hear about his FA from Emerson?

WMassMom, my daughter got her financial aid package on 03/25 which was about 10 days after she was accepted. If your son doesn’t get his tomorrow, I’d call the financial aid dept. I’ve talked to them a couple of times and they have been very friendly and helpful. Good Luck.
