average freshman GPA

So I know the average graduating GPA is about 3.3. But, I've heard that the GPA's start off low freshman/sophomore year and then vastly increase junior/senior year. I saw my GPA just now with half of my credits in and it's about 2.9. Let's just say I'm slightly worried.

Upperclassmen: What is the average freshman GPA? I don't need a cited answer or anything. Just from what you remember, what was typical?

something like 2.7 is typical at the end of freshman year. sophomore year is harder but average gpa seems to rise a tad to 2.8 or so due to a bit of specializations.

Is that GPA only looking at freshman 2nd semester grades? since first are F/P/HP

Seiken you are correct, it is only second semester.

Rocket, that makes me feel A LOT better. I figured out which classes haven't been reported yet and I expect my GPA to be about 3.0. I'd feel good about a 3.0... crazy.

For a freshman a 3.0 is quite something - it's enough for Dean's List, which says something. To get Dean's List, or even come this close, is quite an accomplishment at Mudd.

I just looked it up and the Dean's List is a 3.0, right? What percentage of freshmen get on the Dean's List?
