Anyone know the average GPA for a freshman at MSU?

I really have no idea…but the avg. grade in a lot of my freshman classes (according to the professors) were somewhere in the 2.5 range. So I’d guess the avg. freshman gpa is around a 2.5 (maybe lower?)

There’s a breakdown of GPA ranks by college. I had heard it was somewhere around a 3.1. shurgs

Thanks romani and falala. That seems terribly low. Oh well.

Thats surprising, I usually think in college average GPA’s are like 2.7-3.3

Well I just figured that 1st year GPAs are always a lot lower on average than the average total cumulative GPA, especially since once you continue college and are taking upper-level classes you tend to get better grades due to the familiarity of how things work and better study skills/higher quality assignments (and freshmen generally are not familiar with how college classes/structure works, sometimes get caught up in the social scene etc).

Edit - apparently romani’s data proves my guess right. The average freshman GPA is generally a 2.5-2.6 for the large majority of majors. But there is a significant upward grade trend as years pass by, and by the time people graduate the average GPA is in the 3.0-3.3 range.
