What are the average GPAs or graduating Computer Science majors at the following colleges?

University of Washington - Seattle
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
University of California - Berkeley, San Diego and Los Angeles
University of Southern California
University of Maryland - College Park
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Carnegie-Mellon University

I'm considering also fulfilling pre-med requirements and as any prospective medical student knows, GPA is very important. I also know that different colleges have different standards of grading which varies even more within departments. I want a college where the grading standards are extremely high but not extremely low so that I can also take pre-med courses.

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu) says that for the entering frosh class of 2003 (graduating up to 2009), the average GPAs at graduation for CS majors (at graduation) were:

Berkeley: 3.28
Los Angeles: 3.14
San Diego: 3.28

But note that differences in selectivity, students leaving the major or school (“weeded out”), etc. can make these GPAs not strictly comparable. Also, most CS majors do not take pre-med courses.

The pre-med-heavy biological science majors (at graduation) had average GPAs of:

Berkeley: 3.37
Los Angeles: 3.29
San Diego: 3.22

Ouch. As I’ve read. It really is true that a majority of pre-med undergraduates don’t even make it to medical school.

In your opinion, what GPAs (all other factors aside) make a computer science major attractive to big company recruiters.

Also, the only reason I’m considering majoring in Computer Science and taking pre-med requirements is because I’m still very unsure which field to go into.
