Average GPA/SAT Scores

How far off from the “average” GPA/SAT scores can I be to still get into a college?

Do you mean the average of admission stat for certain school? It really depends on which school you are looking at.

I just meant, in general, is there a chance of getting into a school if my SAT is about 100 points lower than the listed average SAT score for those applicants who were accepted.

I’d say in general if you are an unhooked applicant that your academic stats should fall around the 50% range to have a good chance of admission. But there is no hard and fast rule and there is absolutely nothing wrong with applying to a few reach schools – maybe something about your application will strike the school.

Yes, you have a good chance of getting into a college if your SATs are 100 points below average for the school. Roughly speaking, anywhere from 5% to 35% of the freshmen who enroll at a college are more than 100 points below the average SAT. If your SATs are relatively low, it would help if other qualifications compensate.

You can find out the mid 50 from the CDS. 100 points below average is likely below the 25th percentile.
