Average GPA vs. Average SAT

Okay I know that this isn't a great way to look at admission to colleges but I was just wondering what you all think about having a lower than avg. GPA and higher than avg. Sat and how they corrilate with admission. In other words how many more points higher than the avg. Sat should someone have to balance out a less than avg. GPA to make it a match for that candidate.

In example:

Universities avg: Gpa/3.5 Sat/1220

my thoughts:

3.4 then have about a 1260-1300 to balance it out
3.3 then have about a 1320-1360 to balance it out
3.2 then have about a 1380-1420 to balance it out

Actually, a lower GPA and a higher SAT hurts because it suggests you underachieved, and a higher GPA and lower SAT suggests a large skew in GPA.

Basically, a parallel correlation is best.

Low GPA and High SATs does not necessarily mean that you are underachived. what if the school's curiculum is challenging? Not only the curicullum, but the tests written by the teachers were of higher difficulty than the standards?

Baller. Let's get a list going. Copy the list from the person above you and add yours to the correlating place (we'll list in order of weighted GPA, out of 4, for 9-11th grade). Honors are unweighted, AP or IB count as 5, if you got an A.

4.08/2300

4.08/2300
3.73/1470(old)

Yes, a lower GPA can signal a more rigorous course-load, but it all depends on the school, which colleges can obtain information about.

3.93, 1350 old SAT. 2070 new SAT

4.3 (w), 3.5 (uw)/1480

If your GP does not match up, then if you have an explination it can kind of work to show your potential.

4.08/2300
3.73/2200 (conv. from old SAT)
4.30/2200 (conv. from old SAT)
3.93/2070
3.91/2270

I am not sure if its 9-12 or 10-12 so anyways:

2.66 (10-12)
2.74(9-12)
2100 new 1460 old

average school, no ap classes, no life altering impacts although i did only come to los angeles 3 years ago......so one conclusion: major slack off....
