our school average is an 84. generally, seniors and freshmen are above that and sophomores and juniors are below. of course, there are kids that will arrive at school and get straight As, and others will get straight Cs as they adjust. its different for every school and every person

I can only speak for my son’s school (NMH). Very difficult - yes your gpa will most likely drop from your public school. My son was in all honors courses at our local public and went in as a repeat freshman and just the sheer volume of homework was incredible (he knew to expect it because his brother had also attended this school). My older son right around the 40th percentile with a 3.1-ish gpa at graduation, but he still managed to get into some pretty decent lac’s because colleges do recognize and respect the rigor of these schools. At NMH there really isn’t any “extra” work teachers give to help you raise your grade and I suspect Exeter is the same. The grading is more like college - the majority of your grades come from tests and papers.

From the Deerfield Academic Dean: …the fall term school average was 88.03, and averages for Freshman through Seniors were 87.03, 88.61, 87.90, and 88.60, respectively.
