Does anyone know the average combined EC and academic index for Wharton/Huntsman acceptees? Would a 7 AI be low?

there's an EC index? 7 isn't that low...what is that, 215-220?

i believe a 7 is 220+, i think i have a 223 or a 224

What is this?

I hope a 7 isn't low, for your sake and mine.

i heard most people are around 4, 5,6 and the average applicant in the ivy league has an AI of 200. The average accepted applicant has an AI of 211 (this is all from Michelle Hernandez's(a former Dartmouth officer) A is for Admission book).

Those statistics are outdated, but a 7 is still by no means detrimental.

mm honestly i wouldnt take the AI for much as far as meaning goes. its pretty irrelevant these days with the whole holistic fad colleges are using. but yea, even so having 220+ definately isnt a bad thing, it just isnt even close to being a surefire acceptance indicator.

Penn uses the AI. I know that because when I sat down with an academic advisor there, I peeked at my file on the computer screen and saw that not only did they recalculate my GPA (from % to 4.0 scale) but that I had an AI as well.

What's an AI... and how do you calculate it?

It's merely a number that combines your class rank SAT I and SAT II scores. Go here: http://www.collegeconfidential.com/academic_index3.htm

The AI that penn uses is probably different. Most schools use similar quantitative measures but derive them differently.

Ohh... the article on Penn's admissions site discusses how they rate people from 1-9. This makes sense now. Thanks!

no... that's just a coincidence.... some top schools rate out of 6

nodnard, did they just convert it to 4.0 based on whatever As or Bs are in percentage?
