I know people get angry whenever this question is asked, but I will be taking on quite a lot of debt and I want to know what I am getting myself into. I have decided, even ignoring financial reasons, that Stanford is worth it. But at the same time, I'd like to know how much this debt is going to hurt. Does anyone know what the overall average is? How about for econ majors? Perhaps a link?

Thanks, and please don't be annoyed by this. I am not coming to Stanford for the money....

Are you asking what the average starting salary is for college grads in specific majors or how, say, Stanford econ majors compare with Cal State SLO econ majors?

Hey, stambliark! :] I was at a few Stanford tours on Thursday, and a parent asked about the average starting salary. I think the tour guide said either $60k or $80k (I don't quite remember), but I'm sure if you call the Office of Undergraduate Admission, you can get a pretty good figure.

I don't know what career you're looking at, stambliark, but I just started a semi-related thread (about mgmt consulting or i-banking) in the general Stanford forum which you might check out.
