Does anyone know the average SAT scores for berkeley?

According to U.S. News, the average SAT score for admitted students last year was 1537.6.

According to the Cal website:
http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/freshmen.asp

Average SAT I scores (middle 50%)
Verbal: 590-710
Math: 630-740

So the middle 50% SAT score for ENROLLED (admitted and matriculated) freshmen is 1220-1450 on the old scale.

average admitted student in Fall 2005: 1354 SAT I (old), 677 SAT II Writing, 693 SAT II Math, 4.17 UC GPA

how hard is it to get into a college if you have the average SAT score of that college?

How about for OOS (out of state) applicants? Is it much higher?

theonlyone, there's more to the application than SAT scores.

Shark_bite, somewhat higher.

theonlyone,

Cal and UCLA are the two UCs that put a lot of weight in the comprehensive review where they take all parts of your app into heavy consideration when they make a decision unlike UCSD which has a numeric points value assigned to each part of your app.

Well, UCLA has a similar system- they have three readers read different sections of your application and give you points accordingly. Cal has two readers, one primary and one secondary (who reads la lot less than the primary), and then decides. I don't have any article or link to support this, but my friend in an education seminar with the former chancellor told me about this, as they are studying education and policy in the UC system.

Does anyone know if UCs including Berkeley really take your highest SAT score. One of the adimission officers from UC Davis talked at my school and he said UC schools will take the highest SAT score no matter how many times you take it. Is It really true? because I would take SAT again and again through out the entire year to achieve the best score possible if that's the case.

yeah, SAT1s are just one sitting (highest combined score) and for SAT2's i guess they'll take just your two highest ones

so the admission officers won't even care the slightest bit if I happen to take the SAT five times?
Sweet, that's like no pressure on me at all.

If you're looking into Berkeley, I honestly think it is not a good idea to take the SAT more than 3 times. Its getting more difficult to get into that school every year--top 20 in the nation.
