I dont know Uva's new ACT range but the USNEWS book from last year says their range is 1230-1430 for SAT and 25-31 for ACT scores...and the 25 is less than a 1230...so i am wondering....does a lower ACT look better than a lower SAT for UVA

I was just wondering because my friend who is black has a 26 ACT and very good grades but she thinks that she her chances are ruined because she is a maryland resident

its most likely just because the ACT is much less widely taken for UVa applicants. If say 15000 applicants took the ACT instead of however few do, then I'm sure the scores would even out.

Also, say the majority of ACT applicants apply from states like North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and other states that arn't very populated. UVa wants to say it has "students from all 50 states" so i'm sure they'r emore likely to bend the scores for those people.

so basically she has no chance with that ACT score?

not to lead the thread off topic, but I have a 3.6 GPA, 9 AP's, 34 ACT, but I'm only top 25% in my class. How important is class rank going to be for admissions to UVA?

It's very important at UVA, just like at every other school. Unless there's something particularly special about your school - and I doubt there is - you'll likely be rejected.

wat about to mine about the black girl with the 26 ACT

No clue. She's probably got a good shot.
