Average student... Any chance for Aiming at the ivies... Should I even bother???

What if they dropped out??

But if they went to college in India, that's still college, so no, you wouldn't be first generation, technically. If you're not sure if they finished or not, though (or even if you are), I recommend just not putting down their colleges or whatever, because the whole first generation thing is a hook. You're not saying you're first generation by doing that, but it helps, in my opinion.

Ok, but what can i do to increase my chances otherwise?? This summer, im gonna only do 3 or 4 things, study Sat ii bio, photography, sat prep, and get a headstart on some other studying...

But what else should i do or you recommend

To be honest, there really isn't much else you can do, if you're referring to the higher-ranked Ivies. You have the stats and ECs, but these days, all you can do is write the best essays possible, get the best recommendations you can, and hope for the best. Good luck!

Thanks alot... ill do a few more activities and try to get higher positions, and im going to be working on the common essays this summer so i think those should be good. Thanks alot for the help (towards the end at least)

Just FYI, Tufts and Cornell are not good safeties, b/c they like to reject people who they know are "too good" for them, and are going to go somewhere else. They want to brag about rejecting all the perfect scorers, but they only do it because they want to keep their matriculation rate high. Try U of Chicago or Northwestern - great 2nd tier schools that won't reject you for being "too good"

Most people and official listings consider U Chicago and Northwestern first tier.
Second tier begins below the top thirty to fifty universities. Chicago and NU may not be HYPSM, but they are not second tier.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean they were really 2nd tier, just not the top of the top, if that that makes sense. U Chicago is my 2nd choice, and while I know its top tier, its still not at HYPMS level. Chicago is just easier to get into, albeit very very slightly... I'd certainly be ecstatic if I got in.

Tufts and Cornell are not good safeties, sorry. They're reaches. Learn a little bit more about schools before you apply or you may end up with far fewer acceptances to schools you actually want to go to.

cool you own a graphics company...so do i..."core city creations" and "urbonikz.com"...nd your in from NYC like me....are you me?!?...lmao!!...maybe we'll run into each other in the graphics world who knows...anyways i guess i'll leave now since i know nothing about chances lol...but good luck we might end up at the same school (CMU, Cornell, MIT, or UPenn)...laterz!
