Average unweighted GPA at top flight boarding schools?

This is something that got me thinking. While schools like Andover are sending tons of kids to ivies I doubt that they all have 4.0's. Could someone please provide me links to average GPA's of graduating students schools like GLAD CHEMMS or other top schools?

I don’t know how other schools grade but Exeter has a 11 point grading system

A/A^2 = 11 (A^2 = A because they did the work but with no effort)
A- = 10
B+ = 9

D- = 1
E = 0

Highest honors is 10.00 and above, High honors is 9.00 and above, honors is 8.00 and above.

“early cum laude” is given to the top 5% of the class. this year the cutoff was a gpa of 10.34. Cum laude is given to the top 20% of the class at graduation, but early cum laude is because they’re pretty much guaranteed to still be in the top 20% at the end of the year.

As far as I know Exeter does not report rank beyond cum laude…

I don’t get wrapped up in the CC acronyms. I know that at least with St. Andrew’s and St. George’s that one has to start in the College Counseling section of the website and there should be a link to the School Profile which should give you what I think you’re looking for. As for GPA it is a major factor when it comes to College and every grade counts, including the freshmen year. Personally, I don’t think I ever even really looked at the stats. I could care less, I was only concerned with one guy’s GPA.

I feel like this was discussed on this board before and it was maybe like 3.1/3.2? My son’s school just sent out the GPA distribution for the junior class and I think the average was right around a high 2 low 3. There are never 4.0’s at his school; I think they pride themselves on making that impossible!

keylyme, Looks like your son’s school has a grade deflation policy like some colleges. Would you mind saying which school it is?

at middlesex the school average is an 84 on the 100 point scale. also, in general people’s grades tend to drop junior year and rise senior year.

What kind of grades should we expect as freshmen? I mean, I know they won’t be the same as they were at my old school.
