Average weighted and unweighted gpa at fordham?

On a brochure I got at fordham it says the average gpa is a 3.7 . Is this weighted or unweighted. I’m kind of confused of this schools academic stats.
Also how do my stats compare
Unweighted: 3.6
Weighted: 3.97
SAT Superscore: 1940
3 APs Junior Year and 3 APs Senior Year
Thank You!

Okay…first of all, ignore that well intentioned but erroneous link above. Not sure where “they” get their stats. But dont forget that a lot of athletes are included in the lower end of the scales and a lot of schools conveniently forget to include athletes in the general pool of admitted students stats.

You want to be well above the 50th percentile. Being at the 50th percentile is problematic and below it is usually an invitation for rejection. You are not in that situation.

GPA is relative to transcripts…whats on it? how tough is your school? so forth…

But Fordham’s avg. gpa is 3.6-3.7 and I believe that is unweighted. There are some kids below that avg and a lot of kids above it.

Point being that you are likely in good shape here and your SAT seems acceptable. Now it depends on the RD pool and how competitive it is, the recommendations, the trend of your grades, the EC’s and your essay.

Nobody is a guarantee admittee. I think you will be fine. Good luck

While no complication of information is perfect, the link above to the common data set noted by @ErinsDad‌ is considered by most people to be a valuable and fairly reliable source of information and not “well intentioned but erroneous.” My HS guidance department suggested the common data set as one of many tools to help students seek out colleges. Information below is from http://www.commondataset.org/

"The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson’s, and U.S. News & World Report. The combined goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student’s transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the reporting burden on data providers.

This goal is attained by the development of clear, standard data items and definitions in order to determine a specific cohort relevant to each item. Data items and definitions used by the U.S. Department of Education in its higher education surveys often serve as a guide in the continued development of the CDS. Common Data Set items undergo broad review by the CDS Advisory Board as well as by data providers representing secondary schools and two- and four-year colleges. Feedback from those who utilize the CDS also is considered throughout the annual review process.

Those who report data for their colleges are urged to abide by the definitions and the cohorts specified when answering CDS items. They are also urged to use the answers to CDS items when responding to the numerous survey requests they receive, by distributing photocopies of their answers, posting them on their web sites, or by other effective means."

AND to @sd9754‌ , I don’t like to chance but your stats are certainly seem to be the ballpark. Good luck. Based on the common data set, it appears as if an average GPA of 3.58 is unweighted. Of course the strength of your HS schedule and the strength of the HS itself are important when evaluating your GPA and other factors (such as ECs, recommendations) play a role in the admissions process as well.

the CDS is accepted by most because it is what is reported by the schools themselves to the Dept. of Interior.

its an “academic” issue, anyway, so to speak, as nobody here, neither you nor me, works for Fordham in admissions and knows the matrix or what they will do with a particular applicant. All we can do, is offer our best opinions on applicants as they ask for them. And opinions will differ.

@sd9754 I got accepted to Fordham EA. My stats weren’t that high but I took the same amount of APs but I think my essays and stuff pulled it off. My school does gpa on a 100 scale and I had 95.
