How much homework and studying do you usually do in a day outside of class?

At McGill rendezvous, they estimated 15 hours in classtime and 30 hours studying per week. I know Chinese classes meet every day so your class time might be increased with that taken into account.

I think they said 5 courses meet twice a week for 1.5 hours generally speaking.

I think it depends on what kind of student you are... I usually do it before exams, it works better for me... and you also have to consider what classes are you taking... last semester I spent around 2 weeks... 3-6 hours a day studying for my physics final... but for microecon... I just studied like 3-4 hours....
about the homework... I spent like 6 to 8 hours a week doing it but I just had homework for two classes (calc and phys)... so it really depends on your schedule and course selection...

how much studying do you have to do to get a good grade in classes (A- or higher)
for not particularily difficult major classes, like Political Sciences, or different regional or ethnic studies. I know that some classes(liek sciences) are much more demanding.
I would especially like to know how much time ourside of class one would typically put into studying a foreign language to get a good grade in the class (i want to major in east asian studies)

Well... I can't really tell you because I just have taken science courses.. I'm in engineering.... the easiest class i took last year was Microeconomics... and I easily got an A without studying a lot... less than 4 hours a week... but I didn't have any homework... just 2 midterms and the final....

I guess that for classes like poli sci.. or history.... you'll have some homework to do and write essays and read a lot... so I'm guessing 10 to 15 hrs a week...

Hope it helps...

wait...studying 10-15 hrs each week for each class, or 10-15 hrs a week for all my classes combined (which would be like 50 hrs/ 7 hrs a day)
And, with as much as you study do you maintain a solid GPA?

How much do you study/do homework each week in total with a full schedule?

I studied about 10 hrs a week last semester and taking 5 classes (chem, phys, calc, eng econ, microecon)... and I got a good GPA...

I had 2 assignments each week... one for phys and one for calc... that took me about 4-5 hours to do... also had to do lab reports for each phys and chem... which took me about 2-4 hours to do...

do the math....

sounds like a pretty doable schedule. Thanks.
