avg. day @ cornell

i know there have already been many variations of this post.. but here it is yet again.

what is an average weekday at cornell? how do you partition time?

It varies, depending on whether or not you go to class (most don't take attendence) and on how well you set your schedule up/how many classes you're taking. I don't think the workload here is too bad, and most of my classes either teach from the book or put their stuff online so I don't need to go to many of them.

Wake up, eat, shower, class, work, gym, eat, go out for the next six weeks. Repeat.

I'm glad you partake so much that you remembered to remind me. Tell your "accomplice" I say hello.

No homework? Sweet!

Today felt average; there's always a few unique things to do, so you know, use your imagination and substitute something more characteristic of yourself. Today is a heavy day for me class wise:

8AM: wake up, shower, hygine stuff, dress, check email, scarf a breakfast of milk from the carton and rice cakes, and walk to class in the lightly falling snow.

9:05: Tonal Theory Lecture

9:55: grab coffee and granola between classes

10:10: Musicianship Section

11:15: Calculus Lecture

12:25PM: Physics Lecture

1:15 Finally a break; scarf some more granola, bottled water, and madly study the spanish/do the homework I was too lazy and distracted to do the night before.

2:30: Spanish Section

3:20: Freedom, sort of. I go to the registrar/bursar office to figure out why I am not officially registered--my parents did not pay a $450 bill from last semester; they should hop on that.

~4:00 Finish walk to my dorm. I will unwind for half an hour probably. (this is right now, btw)

6:40: Sit-down house dinner at the fraternity I am pledging...on the other side of campus.

(somewhere in here i'll probably have a little free time, but not enough to get much work done; also, this overlaps with a 1-credit review class I signed up for; since this dinner is regular, I am dropping the review class, but no biggie, it wouldn't have helped my GPA anyway)

9:00: Meeting near my dorm with other pledges at the fraternity. We plan to decide where we will eat together on fridays to get to know each other better.

9:30: Academic work. I will do as much reading/problem sets/studying/language practice as I can until a reasonable hour for friday.

Somewhere between 12AM and 2: I will get ready for bed and go to sleep. Sometimes I walk across the street to get a sandwich in this period of time.

7:30am - Wake up and take a shower. Drink a cup of tea and turn on my computer.
8:30am - Head out to my first lecture in Baker lab. Try to keep myself warm enough on my way there.
9:05am - First lecture of the day.
9:55am - Run across the campus and attend my second lecture.
11:00am - Run across the campus again and attend my third lecture.
12:05pm - Run across the campus and go work in my lab
4pm~5pm - Try to finish up things in the lab and head back to collegetown.
5:30pm - Enjoy my first "real" meal, frozen dinner or take out.
6:00pm - Relax a little bit and watch Simpsons.
7-8pm - Try to do some homework, reading or just slack off for a bit.
8-9pm - Go to the gym and do some exercise.
9-10pm - Take a shower and continue to work on my homework or just slack off.
10-11pm - Read a little more on my bed and catch up on some sports news.
11pm - Sleep.

That's my typical MWF. My Tuesdays and Thursdays are more or less the same with one fewer lecture and couple more hours in the lab.

you know, it doesn't sound so daunting after hearing these schedules. thanks!

slorg..did you miss where I wrote "work"?

wait until prelims begin...

8:00am - Alarm goes off
8:30am - Wake-up
9:05am - Microeconomics Lecture
10:10am - Honor's E&M lecture
11:00am - Lunch on campus with a bunch of friends
12:20pm - Differential Equations
1:25pm - Writing seminar
2:30pm - trudge back to north to practice, read or wateva
3:30 - physics section
4:30 - talk with people and waste time
5:30 - dinner
6:15 - homework,etc
8:00 - gym
9:00 - shower, then Homework or play some music with friends

That is a Wed schedule. Other days has less classes but more work (I have a job at the physics dept). I figure this semester will be more work, but I will be way better equipped to deal with it. Maybe have more time for fun on the weekends and such.

lets keep posting daily schedules here guys, for like a whole week; that way people will start to get an idea :D

why do you guys work out? it seems like you hardly eat anything... i mean, granola, as a meal?

haha sparty lookin good for the female cornellians
;)

is it really that cold there?

Its fairly cold, though not ridiculously so.

lol thanks guys. The schedule looks do-able and human now that I can see that it's not something like, "8:00-12:00 class; 12:00-12:00 homework, study, and study."

Cornell is very do-able, I spend far more time drinking/****ing around/playing videogames/watching TV than I do studying and I got a 3.72 last semester.

sweet, so kinda like senior yr... are you in a frat?

do people at cornell get together weekly to watch shows, like lost and 24? any avid fans out there?
