Avon Old Farms Acceptance Chance

Hi guys, I'm curious of my chance of getting into Avon Old Farms School. I have straight A's in all my subjects and all honor classes. I'm on my town swim team, and the level in which I swim is equivalent too a high school team ( 5 days a week, 2 hour practices, 1 meet per week). I study Mandarin Chinese outside of school for 1 hour every week with a private tutor. I play piano and have performed at multiple recitals; I also have 1 30-minute lesson every week. Also, I'm very interested in business and markets, and I have a demo account with a brokerage that allows me to trade with virtual funds. My interview was fantastic, they said I was "Exactly what they're looking for". I'm very confident in my essays as well, and I know my teacher recommendations will be excellent. The only downfall I have is my SSAT scores (83 percentile for verbal, 81 for reading, but 28 for math, and a 64 percentile overall). I only had roughly one week to study for the test though, and I'm sure I would've done much better on math if I had more time. I made this very clear to the admissions committee. Also, my 64 percentile score is above their average of 60 percentile, so hopefully that will help.

Thanks for any help guys!

Although SSAT scores are not deal-breakers, they can play a role in admission. The AO’s will definitely notice that your scores are “skewed.” However, seeing as your are above the average, it will not be a problem. In the past, Avon has not been known as an academic powerhouse, thereforing leading to alot of recruited athletes and such.
I would like to say your chances are good, but what 3 sports are you planning to play? All of the boarding schools want you to be part of the community 24/7, so just think about that. Obviously, you will make more freinds as a freshman if you play soccer or football rather than running cross country because there are FIVE, yes 5, different soccer teams at Avon, and 3 football teams.
Also, you did not mention how old you are, and which grade you were applying for. This can also be quite important because the number of Freshman and Sophomores that are admitted far exceed the number of Juniors.
