Avon Old Farms Student here to answer any questions about boarding school

I am a current sophomore at Avon Old Farms and I am here to answer any questions about boarding school. Any questions, from Admission to student life.

Hi prepkid25, I’m curious of my chance of getting into Avon Old Farms School. I have straight A’s in all my subjects and all honor classes. I’m on my town swim team, and the level in which I swim is equivalent too a high school team ( 5 days a week, 2 hour practices, 1 meet per week). I study Mandarin Chinese outside of school for 1 hour every week with a private tutor. I play piano and have performed at multiple recitals; I also have 1 30-minute lesson every week. Also, I’m very interested in business and markets, and I have a demo account with a brokerage that allows me to trade with virtual funds. My interview was fantastic, they said I was “Exactly what they’re looking for”. I’m very confident in my essays as well, and I know my teacher recommendations will be excellent. The only downfall I have is my SSAT scores (83 percentile for verbal, 81 for reading, but 28 for math, and a 64 percentile overall). I only had roughly one week to study for the test though, and I’m sure I would’ve done much better on math if I had more time. I made this very clear to the admissions committee. Also, my 64 percentile score is above their average of 60 percentile, so hopefully that will help.

Thanks for any help!
