Awful Sat II Score

Hey guys im new here but just wanted some clarification. I'm a 10th grader at a very competitive high school and have a 4.9/5.2 gpa with a few APs and the rest honors classes. Last year i took honors biology and at the end of the year my teacher told me that i should think about taking the SAT II for bio. Without thinking much of it i signed up for the test. I didnt find out until later that there was some material on the test that my class hadnt covered and i was expected to learn the material on my own. I ended up receiving a 500.

Now i dont expect to go to any ivies or top universities like Stanford, but i do aspire to go to a very selective college (Richmond, Vanderbilt, Emory, Davidson). I've heard of this score choice thing but don't fully understand. Could you guys explain to me what it means? I expect to take a few more SAT IIs and will definitely score higher, but does that mean i have to send all of my scores in, including my biology?
Thanks

A handful of universities require that you send all your SAT Reasoning scores AND all your ACT scores. Another handful let you choose whether to send all your SAT Reasoning scores OR all your ACT scores. Very few require that you also send in all your SAT Subject Test scores. In the vast majority of cases you can selectively send scores. Check the admissions web site sites for the schools on your list to see what they require. Chances are very high that you can exclude sending in that Bio score.

All this said, if you choose to study and retake that Bio test and you need to send both the old score and the new (hopefully much improved) score the new score will trump the old score.

That was the long answer. The short answer is that it’s very unlikely to matter.
