B.Arch Timing To Apply For Grad School

This will probably sound like a really dumb question, but..... D2 is currently out of the country on her European semester and is somewhat out of touch with her normal support group. She is in her fourth year of a five year program leading to a B. Arch. She just informed us that she is going to have to apply for grad school by this spring. That sounds really early to me, since she still has 1.5 years of undergrad left (her spring semester of this academic year, plus her next year which would be her fifth year). I would think that she would apply for an M.Arch program sometime during the first half of her fifth year.

So, what is the timing for a B. Arch candidate to apply for M. Arch programs? During fourth year or fifth year?

All of the M.Arch programs that I’m aware of accept applications through December and send out decisions in March/April. Of course, there are always exceptions out there. I’d be interested in knowing about them too.

It could be that your daughter’s B.Arch program has a channel in the final year for students who intend to go on to an M.Arch program.

^^^^That’s what I was thinking as well. I’ve got to do some more digging to find out what and where D2 is coming from.

Many thanks for your insight.
